2 blog posts in one day, don't know what's happened and it won't happen again!
Just had to share this as I am really pleased with the display box I have made, especially as it cost peanuts. I was looking for something pretty but compact that would hold all that I need if taking my jewellery anywhere - It only cost me the price of the wallpaper that was on offer in B&Q, all the rest was just lying around at home.
So here is the final photo and the instructions are below - hope you find it useful
What you need:
Spray glue and glue gun
Wallpaper
Box file
Ribbon scraps
Cardboard box
Elastic

Take a file box and remove all plastic parts, the spring
Cover the inside with Wallpaper - ok so this is a bit tricky if you are not used to it-just remember to buy lots of wallpaper so if you make a mistake with the measurements... Also remember that the outside will be covered after to hide any mistakes.

Stretch strips of elastic across the inside lid and secure at the back with glue gun - the top 2 in my box are for earrings, the bottom for bracelets - so this photo only shows the inside-I have yet to cover the outside and it is a real mess...

Cover the back of the box, hiding the back of the elastic and securing ribbon ties between the layers
For the inside I have made 2 freestanding jewellery display stands for longer items such as necklaces etc. I took an old box and cut it into two and then removed the bace - I ended up with two pieces of card with a bend in the middle to allow it to stand - if you had any old picture backs these would be ideal also. Before you start covering make sure that these fit inside your box.
I then covered one side, added the elastic and ribbon detail and covered the back to hide the ends
