Never say Never!

Too hot over here-29 plus and all of us are like wilting flowers. Too hot for the kids to play outside and lethargy everywhere but the good weather still puts a happy smile on all our faces.

Was in the school yard yesterday and was reminded that I had promised to make a bracelet for a friend so here is the photo. Turquoise I always think is a beautiful stone, always reminds me of that gorgeous jewellery worn by American Indians and it goes so well with Sterling Silver. I have used 2 types here, solid and Swarovski clear ones. This is an initial bracelet so includes the initials of her 3 children - She is just off the Florida (lucky her) so have to remember it today before she jets off.

Off to tidy up the floor before school, well actually can't see the floor as the rugrats have taken all their toys out....

End of the road

The sun is shining and I should be out there sitting in it and where am I? Sitting in waiting for James to arrive. Today is a sad day as my son's best friend moves to Scotland and today we are having a good bye party for him and his lovely family. Not an easy thing to explain to a 7 yr old and Scotland and Guernsey are poles apart, its not as if a bus ride or 2 would do.

I have been making some bracelets over the last couple of days but these are the last as I am also moving on. I am desperate to make some things for myself - I have designs that has been mulling over in my head for a cuff and a pansy brooch but I keep being waylaid by orders - all very well but this was meant to be a hobby so these will be the last for a while. The first are for a lovely lady in the UK that is getting married shortly, the second 14 carot gold filled with golden Shadow crystal accents.

My Website is moving on as well. After much thought I have decided not exactly to give it up but to change the focus completely. You will have to watch this space as I have a lot of work to do on it over the next couple of weeks so for now it is closed to shoppers- sorry.

Anyway enough babble - here are the photos as I hear the knock on the door-let the party commence!!

Orange bag

Are you like me? When I see a bag that I like the mist decends and I just have to have it.................. This has happened twice this week. Once when sitting beside someone at the school concert - the bag was pink leather - that bag got away on the arm of its owner sadly. Later that night I read Zoe's blog and spotted this hand crafted Cashmere mix felted bag. It is now mine!! I was out last night and had to find something in my wardrobe as orange isn't really my colour but I managed.

Flaming June

Excuse the pun as it is pouring rain here today, not a day for sandels thats for sure - Even bought a brolly today when i managed all through the winter without - where's our glorious summer they all promised us? Me smells another Mr Fish.

Kids all playing nicely for once so quick 5 mins to blog. Antiques Roadshow was in Guernsey yesterday, didn't get to go but a friend of mine did and was photographed so will look forward to seeing that - I have always enjoyed this esp when they find the really rare finds-nothing in my attic, not quite true-don't have an attic!

Here is a little something that I made to match a hairvine that I made - leaf hairpins, a bit retro with the colours - seems to be a rich cream phase at the mo!

Retro pearls

The sun is out, just to put the washing on the line, sort the kids out and 'up n at em'. We went for a swim last night, the water temp is still a bit cool but the kids had a lovely time.

Here is a little trifle I made a couple of days ago - well to be honest I didn't make it, more like recycled it - This great strand of pearls was finished with an ugly plate clasp and generally just needed some love and attention - I am pleased how the flower clasp finishes it off. Just look at the quality of those pearls, each one hand knotted - at 49 inches it must have taken the original designer ages. This is the first recycled piece I have ever made, used to sorting out repairs for friends but just couldn't resist the quality of these pearls - not sure what I will do with them.
Off to wake the kids, they are having a lie in after their late night water antics-must do evening swims more often then !!

A super lady

This is for Tasha, a very lovely lady who has made my little one dance for joy - Here are 2 photos for you to choose from. The first a Swarovski crystal cross necklace (will change the chain to silver tone) or a blue, brown and real Jade chunky necklace - I wasn't too sure of your taste....

Candy Floss

Did you know what a Baba Papa is? Silly me I had thought that it was a cartoon but not in France - in France it is the biggest sweetest Candy Floss that you have ever seen and in my folly i bought the kids some at the weekend - It will be all my fault when their teeth fall out in years to come. We are so lucky to live on the cusp of France as to pop over for the weekend only takes a couple of hours and really blows the cobwebs away - it went up to the nineties when we were there and an afternoon sitting under the hazelnut trees reading a book was just bliss. Now I bet you are saying what book - all about weddings - OMG you would think I would know better, weddings during the week and wedding books at the weekend- what folly is that. I used to only read murders but they have moved on from the Agatha Chrisie days and now seem so violent and cruel that I have had to change my reading material and tend to read what I can get. The book in questions was Wedding Season by Katy Fforde and for a bit of very light reading in the sun it was ideal. I even used it as a background to my latest design, Swarovski drops with FWP accents. Here are the said photos.
