3 sleeps till Santa

sa I was told first thing this morning. Excited peops or what. most of the pressies are bought so just some last minute wrapping and then all set. Town looked beautiful last night during late bight shopping. The lights by the Town Church in St Peter Port were, as usual, spectacular - a shame about the teenage language but I suppose you can't have everything....
We were all set for a walk around the Reservoir today until the rain set in so Wii for the kids and computer for ole mum - I still have to try and tackle the gloss paint on my hands (mad dash to finish some doors) - but I will save that little treat till later.

Here is a photo of my latest bride - she looks stunning and a latest orange bracelet design before I decided to have a Christmas jewellery making holiday and shut up shop until 2010. I am also working on a cape for my little one-nearly finished, just some flowers to crochet and then hopefully a photo.

The sun is shining on Vazon so time for 'off the Wii ' and something more imaginative - but what???

Jewellery display instructions

2 blog posts in one day, don't know what's happened and it won't happen again!
Just had to share this as I am really pleased with the display box I have made, especially as it cost peanuts. I was looking for something pretty but compact that would hold all that I need if taking my jewellery anywhere - It only cost me the price of the wallpaper that was on offer in B&Q, all the rest was just lying around at home.

So here is the final photo and the instructions are below - hope you find it useful

What you need:

Spray glue and glue gun
Wallpaper
Box file
Ribbon scraps
Cardboard box
Elastic

Take a file box and remove all plastic parts, the spring

Cover the inside with Wallpaper - ok so this is a bit tricky if you are not used to it-just remember to buy lots of wallpaper so if you make a mistake with the measurements... Also remember that the outside will be covered after to hide any mistakes.

Stretch strips of elastic across the inside lid and secure at the back with glue gun - the top 2 in my box are for earrings, the bottom for bracelets - so this photo only shows the inside-I have yet to cover the outside and it is a real mess...

Cover the back of the box, hiding the back of the elastic and securing ribbon ties between the layers

For the inside I have made 2 freestanding jewellery display stands for longer items such as necklaces etc. I took an old box and cut it into two and then removed the bace - I ended up with two pieces of card with a bend in the middle to allow it to stand - if you had any old picture backs these would be ideal also. Before you start covering make sure that these fit inside your box.
I then covered one side, added the elastic and ribbon detail and covered the back to hide the ends

Francis Cabrel

Well just a quick email, been working on my French and translating one of my fav songs by Francis Gabrel into English - I did get some help though in the end as, with a lot of French, it doesn't translate easily.
Here is the French of Je l'aime mourir -I will love (her ) till death - a bit morbid but if you go to you tube you will see why I like it. you Tube

JE L'AIME MOURIR
Moi je n'étais rien,
Et voilà qu'aujourd'hui,
Je suis le gardien
Du sommeil de ses nuits.
Je l'aime à mourir.
Vous pouvez détruire
Tout ce qu'il vous plaira.
Elle n'aura qu'à ouvrir
L'espace de ses bras
Pour tout reconstruire,
Pour tout reconstruire
Je l'aime à mourir

Elle a gommé les chiffres
Des horloges du quartier.
Elle a fait de ma vie.
Des cocottes en papier,
Des éclats de rire.
Elle a bâti des ponts
Entre nous et le ciel.
Et nous les traversons
À chaque fois qu'elle
Ne veut pas dormir,
Ne veut pas dormir.
Oui, je l'aime à mourir.

Elle a dû faire toutes les guerres
Pour être si forte aujourd'hui.
Elle a dû faire toutes les guerres
De la vie, et l'amour aussi.

Elle vit de son mieux
Son rêve d'opaline.
Et elle danse au milieu
Des forêts qu'elle dessine.
Je l'aime à mourir.

Elle porte des rubans
Qu'elle laisse s'envoler.
Elle me chante souvent
Que j'ai tort d'essayer
De les retenir,
De les retenir.
Oui, je l'aime à mourir.

Pour monter dans sa grotte
Cachée sous les toits,
Je dois clouer des notes
À mes sabots de bois.
Je l'aime à mourir.

Je dois juste m'asseoir.
Je ne dois pas parler.
Je ne dois rien vouloir.
Je dois juste essayer
De lui appartenir,
De lui appartenir.
Oui, je l'aime à mourir.

Elle a dû faire toutes les guerres
Pour être si forte aujourd'hui.
Elle a dû faire toutes les guerres
De la vie, et l'amour aussi.

Moi je n'étais rien
Et voilà qu'aujourd'hui,
Je suis le gardien
Du sommeil de ses nuits.
Je l'aime à mourir.

Vous pouvez détruire
Tout ce qu'il vous plaira.
Elle n'aura qu'à ouvrir
L'espace de ses bras
Pour tout reconstruire,
Pour tout reconstruire
Je l'aime à mourir.

Ok and here is the English translation

I was nothing,
And then today,
I am the guardian
Of the sleep of her nights.
I love her to death.
You can destroy
All that will please you.
She will just have to open
The space of her arms
To rebuild everything,
To rebuild everything
I love her to death.

She rubbed out the figures
Of the clocks of the area.
She made of my life
Paper hens,
Burst of laughter.
She built bridges
Between us and the sky.
And we cross them
Each time she
Doesn't want to sleep,
Doesn't want to sleep.
Yes, I love her to death.

She must have waged all the wars
To be that strong today.
She must have waged all the wars
Of life, and love as well.

She lives as best as she can
Her dream of opaline.
And she dances in the middle
Of the forests that she's drawing.
I love her to death.

She wears ribbons
That she lets fly off.
She often sings to me
That I'm wrong to try
To keep them,
To keep them.
Yes, I love her to death.

To go up in her cave
Hidden under the roofs,
I have to nail down notes
In my wooden clogs.
I love her to death.

I just have to sit down.
I must not talk.
I must not want anything.
I just have to try
To belong to her,
To belong to her.
Yes, I love her to death.

She must have waged all the wars
To be that strong today.
She must have waged all the wars
Of life, and love as well.

I was nothing
And then today,
I am the guardian
Of the sleep of her nights.
I love her to death.

You can destroy
All that will please you.
She just has to open
The space of her arms
To rebuild everything,
To rebuild everything
I love her to death.

I've got the Humf

Fancy creating a new show and not having any merchandise?

Well I have a very special nephew that loves Humf on Nickjr but could I find a pressie for him? - Amazon: No, The Nick JR site: no - but I know a fabulously talented lady called Hennie that can knit anything including a Bhudda would you believe - here is what she has come up with - isn't he superb? If you would like one just like this I have popped a link to Hennie's website from the picture.

Thought I would never finish it but..

Here it is. A real labour of love as I bought the wool as a summer project and its now well into Autumn. There is a photo of the pattern from a previous post but i decided not to include the fairisle - lifes too short. Its a Rowan wool and feels lovely on - great to have something that the sleeves are not miles too long to wear. So now I can start on some other projects that I have been dying to make, both bead and wool ones.
