My Summer knitting project.

Here it is, taking longer than I had thought but been up to other things.
Not sure about the colour combination and this is only part of a sleeve but the cuff took ages. Think I will do some relief work further up, perhaps a diamond pattern.

Its a very wide cuff but just following the instructions - if I don't like it when its finished will just use the wool for something else - one of the benefits of not being in the first flush of youth - patience!

Revamped site

That took longer than I thought - have been updating and revamping http://www.braceletsnbrides.co.uk/ over the last few weeks, changing product lines etc so that The Pink Ladies can benefit. Thought it would only take a day or too... It probably needs more work but I have had enough computer time for now. The kids have broken up and we have been spending as much beach time as the weather allows. I have some more wedding photos on the way but here is a preview. The bracelet in pearls and Sapphire (September birthstone) and then a photo from the wedding - doesn't it go well with the Bouquet (an accident but a nice one). House or garden? Both are in need of some TCL and can't decide which first. I have a new quick regeme that I am trying with the kids under feet. 10 minutes per room for a quick tidy and then move on to the next one - not sure if its working though! I seem to get diverted all the time. This time the bread maker bleeped 5 minutes in so the rolls had to be shaped for proving - that took 10 minutes in itself then I had forgotten about the Jam making excapade of yesterday and the space needed to be found for 6 pounds of jam. For some reason it has been a bumper year for blackcurrants probably all the rain that we have had. This was my first attempt at jam making and it went well-easier than I expected really but tiresome preparing the currents for boiling. The only downside that I can see in the whole process is that I absolutely HATE jam and won't be eating any of it......

Breast cancer awareness

After a lot of thought things have changed around here - I have decided I need more me time (well me, oh and the kids time really) but also need to feel that I am doing more. From July onwards any makes sold via my braceletsnbrides website will be for the benefit of women with Breast cancer in Guernsey. We have a very good support group called the Pink Ladies and the work they do in supporting others through this disease and treatment is amazing but they need funds. If I had time I would like to give some of it up but I can't, not enough hours in the day as it is but I can use my skills when the little ones are in bed by carrying on with what I do anyway to relax.

As for me time, went to the wool shop, one of our stores ' Creasey's' is giving up their Rowan range so treated myself to some wool but look at the pattern - I have been knitting since I was in my pram nearly but even this is an OMG moment - but I just couldn't resist that border . I am not going to do the fairisle - not that I couldn't or that I don't like it but being knee high to a grasshopper fussy patterns are out. The pattern is Martin Storey design from a Women's weekly knitting and crochet mag that I picked up last year, funnily enough I saw the same pattern as I was having a nosy on Ebay a couple of days ago - someone had torn it out from the mag and was selling it for a couple of quid - the mind boggles.

Never say Never!

Too hot over here-29 plus and all of us are like wilting flowers. Too hot for the kids to play outside and lethargy everywhere but the good weather still puts a happy smile on all our faces.

Was in the school yard yesterday and was reminded that I had promised to make a bracelet for a friend so here is the photo. Turquoise I always think is a beautiful stone, always reminds me of that gorgeous jewellery worn by American Indians and it goes so well with Sterling Silver. I have used 2 types here, solid and Swarovski clear ones. This is an initial bracelet so includes the initials of her 3 children - She is just off the Florida (lucky her) so have to remember it today before she jets off.

Off to tidy up the floor before school, well actually can't see the floor as the rugrats have taken all their toys out....
